Micah Thomas -
Founder/Artistic Director
BIOGRAPHY
Micah Thomas was born and raised in Little Rock, AR. She attended Arts and Science Magnet schools all of her adolescent years. This is where she developed her love for learning and the Arts. She started her training at an early age and would later go on to take formal lessons by the time she was thirteen. Her experiences include being a company member of a local dance ensemble, The Tidwell Project, for four years in Little Rock, AR., as well as a dance instructor for the Center for the DansArts. She has also taught art classes for the Boys and Girls Club, coached middle school Volleyball, and counseled both professionally and personally. After moving to Memphis, in 2005 she saw the need to have an outreach program in the ARTS for urban youth. So, in 2008 The Thomas Project was born. As an educator, she sees the influence she has on her students and saw The Thomas Project as a way to share her love of life, people, learning, and the Arts with more children in our communities.
HER WORDS
"The Thomas Project is something that is near and dear to my heart. It has been a part of a vision that I have had for several years. In my bio you can read were I have always been in the arts, but never had I been a part of the arts until I started dancing. Because of dance and the positive people it brought me around, I can say I am a better person. I want to offer our children the same positive self assurance, creative outlets, and goal setting I was able to experience growing up. As Maya Angelou said "When you learn, teach, when you get, give", I have learned a great deal and believe it is my purpose to teach. Giving Back to Serve the Future!
